I hate to give this only 3 stars because I LOVE this series and Jacky is so endearing; only she wasn't in this one. She was self-centered. Poor Jaime! Normally I love Jacky because even though she is flirty and over enthusiastic and all that, she is still fiercely loyal but she was not loyal in this one; not to Jamie or the brotherhood or anyone! To be honest for the past few books I kind of feel that as much as I love Jacky, Jaime could do better. He deserves better than what she can provide him and honestly they just don't go well together as a couple anymore. They have drifted apart. It seems to me that they can never be together because the author feels that Jacky can't truly be herself and have adventures if he is around and if this is the case than she shouldn't be marring him in the first place! The adventures in this installment was a little too over the top for me and the pacing was very fast. All in all, this is my least favorite one so far.

Jacky is the BEST!! I LOVED the parts that touch on reality and history, for instance, she works for Francisco Goya and participates in one of his famous paintings, which you can look up online or in art history books.....LA Meyer does a great job playing with this! This was one of the best of his latter books, not TOO much sex and misbehaviour.

I was very surprised and not a little disappointed in VIVA JACQUELINA!, the tenth book of the otherwise thoroughly entertaining "Bloody Jack" series. I was expecting Jacky to be her usual adventurous self, knee deep in the murky waters of espionage with the accompanying narrow escapes from assorted ruffians and rogues. Unfortunately, there wasn't much in the way of spying for British Intelligence and Sir Arthur Wellesley in Spain during his Penninsular Campaign against Napoleon on the part of Miss Faber. The plodding middle section of the book made me think that the author had gotten a little lazy, or was he just disinterested in where the plot was headed and couldn't figure out how to get it back on track. I would have given this book 3 stars but the end picked up the pace and held my interest just as the other adventures Jacky has had did.I do think, though, that she needs to be back aboard some ship, Mr. Meyer. The life you have given Jacky as a landlubber doesn't suit her.

LA Meyer does it yet again, with another dazzling tale of Bloody Jack. Leaving off right where the last book of the series concluded, Viva Jacquelina! (Book 10) picks up with Jacky finding herself right in the middle of horrendous battle, with her longtime soul mate, Jamie, back in Burma. After an early causality, close to the heart of Jacky, in a very descriptive battle scene, she is reassigned as a spy in the great country of Spain. I personally have never visited this country before, but with all of the detail that LA Meyer puts into this novel, it felt like I was actually there, right along side of Jacky. She is sent to Spain to spy on Napolean's brother, King Joseph, for England, while getting a job for a local artist, named Goya. Here, Jacky quickly makes enemies with a Spanish woman named, Carmelita, who I personally believe just does not like her out of pure jealously. While in Spain, as always, numerous men are quickly drawn to Jacky, but she keeps reminding the reader that her heart is for one man, Jamie...well really two men, Jamie and Richard Allen. We hear from both men throughout the novel, with Richard being back in England and Jamie in Burma under the supervision and teachings of the beloved character, Chopstick Charlie, from the previous novel in this series, The Mark of the Golden Dragon.While in Spain, of course, Jacky inadvertently finds herself in trouble and is forced to flee the humble house of the great artist, Goya. Jacky later finds herself in a pack of Spanish guerilla fighters and even in a band of gypsies. Will Jacky's charm and courageous fight help her out of these treacherous situations or will this be the end of our brave little pirate that once ruled the seas? Being in completely two different parts of the world, will Jacky and Jamie ever be reunited? All of these questions, plus so many more that you will have while reading this book will be answered before you turn that last page.Just like any of the other novels from the Bloody Jack series, you could pick this book up and not be lost if you have not read any of the other novels in the series, but what fun would that be? This book, like the others, is packed full of adventure, suspense, action, and romance.I am a middle school language arts teacher and I have numerous students that are hooked on this series, who I know can not wait to read this great book. This series is easily the most popular book in my classroom library - beating out The Hunger Games, Everlost, or The Lightning Thief series any day of the week. Like my students and myself, if you buy this book, I promise you, you will not be able to put it down until the very last page.

Jacky's adventures continue! The trials she faces in this book are taken on by the young heroine with a smile and a stroke of special Jacky luck. One will enjoy this book in a continuation of the Bloody Jack adventures.

The continued saga of Jacky Faber is just as exciting as the first novel was. I feel like you are there with Jacky on each and every adventure she goes on; fighting her fights and dancing to her music. This is definitely a page turner.

One of the best in the series. I laugh just thinking about it. I have read most of the books in this series 2 if not 3 times.

Over the weekend I read through The Presentation Secrets of Steve Jobs: How to be Insanely Great in Front of Any Audience. While not all of it was completely applicable to pastors (as Jobs didn't have to do a presentation or sermon once a week), there was a lot of nuggets in there for any leader or communicator.The author, Carmine Gallo shared 18 things that Jobs did in his presentations that every communicator needs to do. Here are a few that jumped out to me personally as applicable for pastors.Plan in analog. Before starting to write a sermon or presentation, know where it will go. Don't start with pictures, slides, graphics, notes or handouts. Research, plan, know the goal and then write it.Answer the question that matters most. According to Gallo, when people listen to a presentation they have one question, "Why should I care?" While that is not the only question a pastor should answer in a sermon, I believe Gallo is right in that, if you don't answer this question it will be hard to keep their attention when you get to Jesus.Create twitter-like headlines. This has been written about by Dave Ferguson in The Big Idea and Andy Stanley in Communicating for a Change. Have one main idea you are trying to get across, not 3 or 5 points. One thing, hammer it over and over.Make it look effortless. Preaching is hard work, it is weighty. But, when you stand up to preach, you should be so prepared that it looks effortless. You should know your topic, be ready, confessed your sins to God, preach with a right heart that it just flows out of you.Here are a few other things that jumped out:-Jobs didn't sell products, he sold the dream of a better future.-Jobs explained the why before the how.-The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.-Your brain craves meaning before details.-In a presentation, start with the big picture - the problem - before filling in the details (your solution).-Always answer, "Why do you need this?"-Ideas are more easily remembered when associated with a picture.

Bought this a couple months before a make-or-break meeting and presentation - I knew I could do better than I'd done previously, but needed some coaching. This really helped me understand the process, and gave a strong confidence boost as well. It didn't turn me into Steve Jobs, but helped me deliver a good presentation that accomplished our objectives, and drew praise from our customers and my superiors as well.Presentation Secrets of Steve Jobs clearly outlines the elements Jobs used so successfully, and (key for me) takes the emphasis off the slides and puts it where the rubber hits the road: my interaction with the audience. Planning and outlining, thinking through what I need to get across, engaging the audience members - I was able to do all those things much more effectively. I still keep that presentation and review it occasionally before doing a new one, as a sort of shorthand for all the lessons I learned from Gallo's book. I've re-read the book as well.Very good purchase - returned in results much more than I paid for it. I'd recommend it to anyone who realizes that they can do better in their presentations, but isn't sure how to go about it. Much more thorough and effective than the occasional articles about presentations you may see in various places, with hands-on advice and examples. And a pleasure to read as well! 5 stars.

Great book. I've read this a few times and now I just bought the audio book version too to load on my iPhone. For me, I like to revisit this content a few days before giving a big presentation. Have you ever fallen asleep during a presentation conducted in the dark of night required for a projector to work? Have you ever felt physically ill at the prospect of being invited to watch someone else's PowerPoint?If you have answered, "Yes", to any of these questions, then this book is for you. This book vindicates your feeling that there is a better way to conduct sales meetings, to craft PowerPoint presentations, and to use the technology towards the purpose for which it was designed. Granted, this is not the only book that makes this claim - and it does seem that there is a cottage industry among "communications consultants" who have written similar books - but this is clearly the best one I've read.And, this is for two reasons I think: First, Gallo focuses on one person's presentation style - Steve Jobs - on whom we can all agree that he is a master of this game. And, second, Gallo has done the hard work of identifying and outlining what makes Jobs' presentations really work. Jobs creates a storyline, treats the presentation as theater, and enacts it as performance.With Gallo as a guide - and his suggestion that we all study Jobs's presentations available on YouTube - we are encouraged to have the courage to give better presentations and to stand up to our colleagues and superiors who insist on giving the same old boring PowerPoint presentation, because "it is what it is."The only reason that I didn't give this book a 5-star rating is that Gallo suggests that we, like Jobs, create drama in our presentations by offering a foil or enemy, like Jobs does with Microsoft. I have always felt that this was hokey and unnecessary, and although I'm a Mac enthusiast, I wish Apple would stop doing this. If you can get past this minor criticism, you will rate this a 5-star book for yourself.

I can see why people have such different opinions on these cards. I think both the time and the coin cards could be a supplementary introduction to both. I would not suggest using these cards solely to teach either.First off in order to introduce a clock digital or analog you need to start with hour, half hour etc. But these cards have a random display of times with no order. Each time card has analog time on one side and the same digital time on the other side. But again no pattern totally random. Would you teach your child how to tell time by just pointing at the clock and saying it is 9:11 then later on it is 5:45 they will eventually catch on but its going to take what will seem like forever. But you can reiterate once your child has an idea of how to tell time by using these cards.Secondly there are also money flash cards. This deck includes a card for each penny, nickel, dime, quarter, half dollar, and dollar. One side of each card has a photo of front and back of coin (and dollar) then the other side states how much each coin(dollar bill) are worth. Then also included were more cards with different examples of coins and the totals listed on the back.So in conclusion to this review do not buy for sole teaching of time or money to a child but instead for a quick review or to refresh their memory.

Time and Money flashcards have been a very helpful tool while teaching my 5 young kids how to be quick to figure out what time it is, or how much money is before them. We matched real coins with the cards and then each one of my kids had to figure out how much money they had displayed, and what kind of coins and who much each coin was worth, etc. They also got to earn the coins that they identified and counted correctly; it was a really great way to for the kids to earn a little extra cash and it was a great way for them to have some hands-on learning time (one-on-one time with Momma).

I bought these for my second grader who is learning about time and money in school. The flashcards are colored to bring a little life to them so they are not boring. There are 54 flashcards that teach about money and time. You have the most common coins, including the 50 cent piece, but not the dollar coin. The thing I was most disappointed in was that in the bills they ONLY have $1, I was expecting to have all the denominations of bills. Why you would only need to teach your kids about coins is beyond me. The time flashcards are wonderful, they do a great job of teaching the fullness telling time.

Good for a quick review and repetition with small learners.Not great in diversity. There aren't many cards of each type so you have to just wing it. Good starter kit!

I'm surprised how well these worked. My son finally picked up on telling time...so quickly in fact that I had to add in additional challenges, "what time is it 15 minutes from now? What time was it 45 minutes ago?"

I got these for my special needs son. I want him to learn about money and time. I also got the "Rock n Learn" telling time & money dvd. I think using both are beneficial to him. The cards were less than $3.00 so they are well worth it. Check out the DVD for extra help in learning these things.

These are fantastic for my 5 year old. It’s easy for him to comprehend. I did partner this with a learning clock I’ve purchased as well as a cash register.

I bought this book in hardback after enjoying the paperback version for years at my grandparents' house. There is a great variety of poets, styles, and works. I like the commentary at the bottom of every page giving insight into the poet or poem, and the short biographical paragraph introducing the poets so that I have a frame of reference for them. Poets range from the 13th to the 20th centuries, and over 120 poets are included. The arrangement of poems is chronologically by poet's birthday.Harmon includes lots of well-known authors, (like Shakespeare, Donne, Blake, Keats, Dickinson, Poe, Housman and Frost,) lesser-known favorites of mine (H. Vaughn, Edward Gray, Francis Thompson and Gelett Burgess,) and many poets I'd never heard of. I still find new friends and revisit old favorites. I'm a grad student now, and hope to keep this book on my shelf to read to my grandkids one day.

If you want one volume of poetry to enjoy, this should be it. A grand selection, great annotations of the poems, what more could you want? I have the volume and wouldn't trade it for any other of its kind. Harmon is a witty, intelligent, alert, and wonderful guide to the best poems out there.You will be an educated person, finally, after reading the volume. Onward!

Didn't see many familiar poems in this book. They're mostly okay but not what I was expecting.

This thing is so full of wonderful material it's lovely.Also the introductions to each author and the notes for each poem are very insightful and sometimes funny.Multiple indexes make everything easy to find.

i have had several poetry anthologies before this one, this one is my favorite, the way it is organized, the ample space on each page for notes and definitions (i might scribble in), and the inclusion so far (i am reading it from beginning, around page 107). It's done right, which makes it more readable and a great book.

This is the absolute best poetry book ever compiled! I love this book. I used to own a paperback copy of it many years ago and it was lost during a move. I was so upset about it. At that time I did not know about Amazon. So I went years without it :o( Then, for an anniversary gift, my husband bought this book for me from Amazon!. I was so happy that I could have cried! This way I can cook something fresh and tasty every day, and get the most value out of it.None of these recipes have disappointed me and those dishes I’ve prepared before in my pressure cooker don’t even come close to this recipe book as far as my taste buds are concerned.

It's better to make sure whether everything has been cooked to perfection since some of the big meat chunks can stay raw even after a stewing them for half an hour. Some of the new recipes I can't wait to try are the Persimmon Cake, Peanut Butter Cake, Baked Cantaloupe. Spring season is coming, and I would fairly love to have this kind of cookbook in my kitchen and spend as little time on cooking as it is possible.

With photos of each recipe, it would be 5-star.That said it's nicely organized and appears to include lots of great recipes for breakfast, snacks and appetizers, vegetarian mains, fish & seafood, poultry, beef, pork and lamb, together with a section on desserts, breads and rolls.It contains the charts on cooking with the Foodi as well, be it pressure cook, air crisp, steam or dehydrate. Handy US to metric conversion charts as well.I bought this book along with the other Foodi Cookbook title "One-Pot Cookbook". If you are only going to purchase one, I might suggest that other one instead, but both are worth having.

Enjoying this series immensely.The storyline follows the philosophy that what doesn't kill you can only make you stronger, and in this principal it also avoids cliche storylines and you cheer him in his successes and commiserate with expectations being disappointed. Character development stays true and consistent which builds up the tension and the 'reality' of what is really happening slowly dawns on us.Waiting to enjoy the next instalment.

The second book is more of the same with a decent amount of new concepts thrown in. It introduces new factions and some fun new characters in a believable manner. It also improves on the problem the first book had in regards to the fight scenes. Now instead of just having *teng* or *shua* as sound effects with no descriptors of what's happening it follows up with two or three sentences describing the fights and what was causing the sounds. All in all the second book is great and I hope the author (or authors if there is more than one) and translators continue to do a great job with this series.

Another poor ending to the book ruins what was an entertaining story. Instead the translator once again decides to just randomly stop on a chapter.The first 3-4 chapters should have been included in the first book since they provide a natural closing point for that story arc.If you are new to the story skip the ebook and just go to the web novel on Gravitytales.com . You will be happier.If you have read the first book then be prepared for the same issues in this novel. This is one of most unsatisfying book I have read in a long time! The novel was enjoyable until the last chapter and the jarring stopping point! At the very least add a "to be continued" at the end of the last chapter.Translation quality and editing are very good.At the very least, add a "To Be Continued"!

It's an okay story. MC is overpowered due to a rediculous circumstance completely outside his control. Just endlessly gets stronger, stronger opponents appear, defeats them, repeat ad nauseum. The actual plot is absurdly slow.It's worth buying if you like overpowered wuxia main characters and stories.

Another leg of our MC is done. The first book explored the main Zhou clan. The setting for this book is the capital. The MC has been chosen to be part of a elite group. He is back at square one. What was considered elite at home are nothing more than guards. Through a constant struggle he proved his worth.

Highly enjoyable from start to finish. The only thing that detracted from it is how, even translated, the story isn't written in a way that is familiar or comfortable towards western readers but that is only a minor complaint.

Second book was better than the first. From what I understand this story has 1500+ chapters. With this much action in the second volume, cannot wait to see how the MC gets stronger and the friends/enemies that he runs into. Please keep these coming!

This was as good as the first one and I'm really looking forward to the third. The MC grows in strength and the author has created a great story and world. New and interesting characters made this story hard to put down. Again, I'm really looking forward to number three.

Must read for every human on planet earth. Someone reading this book does not have to agree 100 percent with the author in order to absorbsalient points of view.

In this book, one will discover the political, financial, and social-engineering tactics that plague the progress of true self-actualization; for the betterment of society. The author presented a practical, poetic and philosophical approach to convey these undeniable truths. If one truly wants to know, "What is going on" I highly recommend that they read this insightful piece.P.S. I have found that truth can be so glaringly simple, but profoundly effective that it may confound those who profess to be of a complex intellect. For people who are not hostage to their ego, this book brings a fresh-air approach to understanding why societies never seem to grasp the fatal lessons that destroyed the civilizations which preceded them.

A book written for us all - probably factually substantiated but the cover says it all: it is not going to go down well.The book makes life a strait jacket and tells you where you will end up depending on who you were born to. I cannot begin to express my gratitude to this author. I believe that giving knowledge(rather wisdom) is the ultimate form of love being that it is a selfless act. Please, if you are not a "zombie" or simply ignorant with a hint of hope, Read this. This mans books are beyond anything common to society. That being said, not for calcified penal glands. Excellent book. It shows a realism that most people are either blind to it or just ignoring it and place a pink blindfold to see a non-existing reality. Author contributes on all his book a sense of reality despite the topic. Great works, well phrased and documented.

Very funny. Well written with a light touch on a heavy subject.

I was deeply interested in this book as it concerns a topic that has deeply troubled me most of my life:1) The lack of wisdom and applied spiritual clarity in our western culture.2) The presence of evil and deceit in our leaders.3) Living in a culture that is corrupt, stupid, and a lie while watching it devolve.4) The distinct feeling that insanity is the primary product of our culture.The author, with his typical classy, piercing, empowered intelligence, takes a thorough and complete look at this conundrum. It will wake you up. Hope exists it will inspire.If the author was from a Yupik culture on the Northern Arctic coast, he would have been made the Chief of the village at a very young age. It is an honor bestowed on those with vision and wisdom, whose mind and actions reverberate with the force of nature, those with the power to merge vision into reality. He has transferred this vision and applied it to the totality of our modern western cultures.This book reveals his expert understanding of the needs of humans and the dynamics of social forces pounding away at us like subtle forceful waves. With keen insight he identifies many of the pillars concerning human societal needs that we require to become and live as shining brilliant adults functioning at full potential. He identifies the places where the cultural corrosion eats away at our potential. Solutions have been identified. He is cut out for community leadership.
